The bells they are ringing
The carolers singing
The holiday cheer’s all around
Yet stop and do listen
More than lights they will glisten
There’s a misplaced holiday sound.
The trees they are standing
Distant travelers, landing
And the home they are finding, all ablaze
Not with stars and lights glowing
But with protestors showing
Their frustration in infinite ways.
The people will rally
In tall metal valleys
And their voices, now hoarse from no change
The only gift that one gives
To the families that live
Is a narrative one can’t take to exchange.
The gifts are all wrapped
While society’s trapped
In dichotomy of Ignore or Despair
What’s the season for singing
If your heart isn’t ringing
If you live without having a care?
